Be Happy

Hello fellow crafters
Im back to share another layout I made with the January 2015 kit from A Piece of Cake Designs.
I couldn't share this after I made it, as it was picked up for publication by Scrapbooking Memories Magazine. You can see it in print within Vol 18, Issue 4

The papers and embellishments within this kit were so pretty.
Very me, and very suitable for layouts of Leila.

Featuring lots of Dear Lizzy prettiness, including a cut apart paper title :)

Ive managed to sneak a few pieces of my 'signature' doily into this layout.. They seem to be appearing on everything Ive made lately! They're so pretty and delicate

As mentioned above, Ive used the Dear Lizzy cut apart paper to layer up and use as a title for the page. I like this for a change, rather than using alpha stickers

My usual multi layer layout is complete with the addition of my favourite vellum, and some tiny staples to keep it all together :) Who needs adhesive when you have a Tiny attacher

Thats all for today

Cute little Sleeping Beauty

Hey friends!
Today Im popping in to share a layout made from a past A Piece of Cake Designs kit

Cards and papers layered up under the photo, were all remnants from the February kit. I think Ive successfully killed the kit after making this

A close up of the cluster made of pieces from the Craft Market ephemera pack

A fun mixed alpha title made of thickers from the kit, old school October Afternoon stickers and a card from the cut apart paper in the kit.

Lastly more ephemera pieces with a mini phrase sticker from stash to finish it off

Thanks of stopping by
More to share soon

Be Golden

Hello everyone :)
Ive gone a little crazy in the creating department lately!!
I've been killing kits left right and centre, which is good as normally they tend to sit around for months on end without being touched!

This is another layout that Ive created with the recent main kit from A Piece of Cake Designs
I did go a little layering crazy, but I couldn't help it! Those papers and embellishments were just calling for it :)

Ive used the cut apart papers and ephemera pieces to create my title.
I have made another title this way recently, but that layout can't be shared just yet as its been picked up for publication!!! YAHOO :)

Yep, totally crazy layers!!

Hope you enjoyed this little snippet of whats been on my desk (kitchen table) recently
Back to share more very soon

Peeping Tom

Hello Fellow crafters
Dropping in today to share a 'just because' layout I made recently.

I was stuck for ideas on where I wanted to start, so I went back through some older layouts for inspiration. I ended up scrap lifting a layout that I am still yet to share here! It was based on a sketch challenge for Scrappy Canary, prior to me joining the team.

This is the original sketch
I rotated it to the left and made this page back in September last year

To make my current page, Ive turned the inspiration layout upside down, then moved the placement of the photo and title to give it a different look.
Ive layered up papers and embellishments from the latest kit from A Piece of Cake Designs (now sold out) Paper within the kit is from recent Amy Tangerine, Dear Lizzy and Websters Pages collections.

A close up of the mixed alpha title. Loving mixing up the fonts and colours lately

Pieces from the Dear Lizzy ephemera pack in the kit make the perfect clusters

Well there you have it.
1 sketch from many months ago and 2 very similar but different layouts :)

Inspired by Paige

Hello crafty friends!

Today Im sharing 2 layouts that have been inspired by the very talented Paige Evans. The Queen of paper piecing! I have been wanting to try this technique out for awhile now, but didnt really want to mess it up too much.

Funnily enough, both layouts document birthdays. One for me and one for Leila..

First up a layout for my 30th birthday. The 3 of us don't have a lot of photos together as 1 of us is usually taking the photo, so I knew this needed to be documented in some way.
I cut up a bunch of papers from a 4x6 paper pad made by Studio Calico, then arranged them onto some white cardstock. Ive sewed through all squares diagonally, then roughed up a few edges. Once I was happy, I layered that on top of some gold spot vellum and more white cardstock. Then worked some magic with doilies and embellishments from D-Lish Scraps, added a few more stitched lines and some October Afternoon Alpha stickers and called it done.

Next up is a page documenting Leila's 3rd Birthday. I quickly grabbed a recent A Piece of Cake Designs cupcake kit for this one as the colours within the papers worked well with the photos.
This time I cut all the papers into strips and layed them down in random places, mixed with a few tags also found in the kit. Once I was happy with how it was layed out, I sewed straight lines along top and bottom of each row. I skipped over the tags for something different. I used a gold glitter patterned vellum to matt the photo and a doily for the other photos. A sprinkling of embellishments, a sparkly thicker title and another memory recorded!

Thanks for reading, more to share in a few days x

Scrapping with friends - a birthday treat

At the end of June I spent almost an entire week celebrating my 30th birthday.
On one of those days, I was lucky enough to spend some time crafting with friends.
Raquel, my best and oldest friend, had organised for a few of us to get together for lunch and some crafting time. Little did I know it was also to spoil me with cakes and flowers.

I was super productive in the few hours that I spent there, churning out 4 layouts!!
First up to share today is
Jumping in MUDDY PUDDLES
Inspired by some recent experimenting with distress inks and water, I made the background by slathering my ink all over my craft mat, spraying with some water, placing the paper over the water/ink then holding it up to let it run down the page. Ive then added some gesso into random places using a honeycomb mask that was in my stash. After that dried I smeared some yellow gelato over the top.
Once I was happy with the background, I layered up random pieces of pattern paper from the Hello Sunshine collection by Pink Paislee. Added in a couple of 3x4 cards from the journalling card set, then a few of the stickers and ephemera from the same collection. A title made from Heidi Swapp colour magic alphas, coloured in with distress ink and I was done.

Next is
HELLO CUTIE although I don't think that is actually its title, as its not 100% finished.
Another Pink Paislee collection - Hello Kid. Ive used the girly papers and embellishments for this page, along with some white cardstock, vellum and my favourite Studio Calico doily.. This was a super quick layout to make. One that I didnt have to think about to much once started.

I then moved onto this layout, while consuming THE BEST mini cakes I have EVER tasted…
YOU ARE FABULOUS
Another super quick layout made with the Daily Stories collection by Teresa Collins. Ive used 2 of the pattern papers from the collection plus some vellum. To add some dimension to the page Ive used some of the butterfly stickers to pop them up off the page. All other lettering and stickers are from the 2 sticker sheets from the same range.

And last of all
HAPPY MESSY FUN
This was made from another A Piece of Cake Designs kit that I've been hoarding in my collection lol
Featuring plenty of Amy Tangerine goodness! Ive layered up strips of glitter tape, pattern paper, journalling cards, an APOCD wood veneer card, cardstock frame and called it quits lol It was time to head home so its not completely finished, I'm sure theres more that I can add to it, some journalling along the bottom in strips probably. But anyway the memory is recorded for now.

Thanks again for stopping by, I hope I have inspired you in some way.

Just because scrapping

Hello fellow crafters
If you couldn't already tell, Ive been on quite a creative streak.. Most of the layouts Ive been sharing were all made at the end of June/Start of July.. Ive still got plenty more to share too!

Up first for today is
YOU ARE OUR SUNSHINE
I put this layout together using the February cupcake kit I was hoarding in my stash from A Piece of Cake Designs. I've layered up papers, from the Fresh Cut collection by Basic Grey, under my photo with a vellum bag and my favourite doily from Studio Calico. Finished off with a few embellishments and splatters of the lime coloured mist from the kit and I thought I was done. I felt it needed a little extra colour, so I cut the white card stock down slightly and matted it onto some green pattern paper (from an unknown source as it was in my stash without a label) then sewed around all 4 sides of the layout.

Next up is a layout that started with a bit of fun with distress ink daubers..
PHOTO BOOTH FUN
I LOVE a good splattering of distress ink, and for this layout I thought it would be fun to use just that and no pattern papers. I printed my photos out at 1.8inch squares and then layered them up in different ways on top of some vellum. I added some strips of glitter paper in random places, sewed a couple of lines through the splatters, and added my title. Im still yet to go back and add the date to that strip from D-Lish Scraps.

Thanks for stopping by, more to share very soon

Cupcakes are fun!

Hello crafty readers!!
Today Im sharing a few layouts Ive created using the May Cupcake Kit from A Piece of Cake Designs

First up is another scrap lifted layout - this time I was inspired by a layout created by Gina HERE
PLAY DATE
I loved the gesso, ink and mist splatters that Gina had produced within her layout so I knew I had to scrap lift her page. It was so much fun!! Can you tell?

Up next
ARTIST IN THE MAKING
This layout is all about the layers
Layers of white cardstock and pattern papers as a base for the page
Layers of gesso rubbed with yellow gelato and splattered with distress ink
Layers of vellum, doilies and pattern papers as a photo mat
Embellished with sequins, stickers and alphas from the kit
PERFECTION

And last but never least
BOOK WORM
To make the background.. I splattered the distress ink over a section of my craft mat, then sprayed it with water. This made the ink bead up and instead of stay in 1 puddle. I laid the cardstock over the beading then held it upright to let the ink and water run down the page. While it was drying (because I was impatient) I drew over the inked areas with a yellow gelato and wiped some gesso into random spots. Then I let it dry, for almost a week while we were busy enjoying life.

Once I found my mojo and some spare time, I came back to layer up papers, washi and a doily, while still trying to work out what photo to use. Yes I do create my base pages prior to having photos ready lol

To finish the page off I scattered a few sequins from the kit, added a title with some Heidi Swapp alphas and my handwriting, stamped the date (more than once) and called it done.

I love how these have all turned out.
More layout shares to come over the next few days!

Just Be

Hello again!!
So many posts within so many days!!

This is the one and only layout I have made so far with the May main kit from

Im embracing the warped look due to the amount of product Ive used on the white cardstock!!
I used a Kaiser Craft mask and some whipped spackle layered on some vellum and pattern paper from the kit. Because of the detail of the mask I didnt want to add too much more to the page, so Ive made a simple photo mat with a simple alpha title and minimal embellishments. Finished off with lots of machine stitching to keep the layers together and I was done :)

Coming up tomorrow… another scraplifted page..
So much inspiration out there and ideas that I never thought to try.

Scrappin' is A Piece of Cake

Hello fellow scrappers..

Today I am here to share a few layouts Ive made (back in may) with the April Main and Cupcake kits from A Piece of Cake Designs
Grab a cuppa and have a read

Up first are 2 layouts of my nephews made using the Main kit

YOU ARE SIX
I really liked the colours of this paper, but wanted the photo to stand out more than it did, so I went to town with some gesso and navy colour shine. Ive layered up the chevron bag, a piece of stars vellum and some pattern papers under my photo. Embellishments and alpha tiles are all from the Main kit.
A few ink splatters and some banners made from the paper title strips and its complete..

The second page made with the main kit is
CUTE PUPPY
Super simple 8.5x11 page made using strips of vellum and pattern paper as the base. Kraft and pattern papers as the photo mat, and a whole lot of MOTEX and alpha fun for the title!
Embellished with sequins and sticky buttons from the kit.

Next up..  2 layouts made with the Cupcake kit

I was Inspired by THIS  layout made by Lisa Pate - APOCD design team member
So I thought, why not try scrap lifting
YOU ARE ONE
For this layout I thought I would try my hand at some brush script. This cupcake kit came with some black gauche and a Sumi brush, so it was the perfect time to try out this popular technique.
Its not a perfect example of how brush script should look, but I tried it, I liked it, and its done!
I've used an APOCD exclusive mask and some whipped spackle for the background, and sprayed with some citrus and teal colour shine (that you can hardly see lol) Different sized pieces of the 6x6 papers have been distressed and layered up, with a glitter frame and pretty doily. Then minimal embellishing from pieces in the kit

Last but not least for this post
TOTALLY BRILLIANT
excuse the spelling mistake
Another 8.5x11 page. I like to mix up the sizes of pages to keep it interesting within our albums
The background was made with some white cardstock and purple vellum (not part of the kit), and a few rough brush strokes of black gauche. Like the previous layout, Ive distressed and layered up different sized pieces of the pattern papers within the kit as a photo mat, then finished off the page with stickers from the Heidi Swapp pack within the kit

Thats all for today, thanks for hanging in there
I will be back to share more tomorrow :)

Smile with Life Paper Scrapbook

Super excited to have been welcomed back to the Life Paper Scrapbook team for the next few months.
Today Im sharing my take on the newest sketch challenge

And this is what I came up with...
As soon as I saw the sketch I instantly thought I had to make a 'patchwork' layout. The squares became different sized rectangular shaped pieces of the Heidi Swapp Favorite Things collection. I arranged these on a white piece of cardstock then sewed down like a quilt. I attached the patchwork piece to some kraft paper that I had experimented with earlier in the day using gesso, a Kaiser Craft mask and a pink gelato. So much fun!!

A close up of the machine stitching, along with a random thread I didnt realise was there until I was editing photos. Whoops!

Ive layered up stars and hearts designed by Heidi Swapp to finish off the page

Head on over to the LPS blog and check out the other creations made by other members of the Design Team. Be sure to join in the fun and load up any layout you make that are inspired by the sketch.

Happy Scrapping xx

Lush Lemon Layout

A quick post to share a layout I created this morning featuring the Lemon Lush papers from Studio Calico. These papers were part of the gorgeous March Cupcake kit from A Piece of Cake Designs.

The idea for this layout came to mind at midnight just before falling asleep, It actually turned out better than I had pictured. Hope you like it

I started with the Teresa Collins hearts mask and the twinkling h20 pot and went to work adding random hearts around the Kraft paper. I then hand cut strips of different sizes from the 6x6 papers within the kit and overlapped them along the page, and sewed them down with my trusty (dusty) sewing machine. I layered the photo on top of some vellum and more pattern papers, stapled the XOXO and stuck down some sequins and stars and called it done :) Although I think it needs some journalling somewhere..

The photo was taken this morning while I was starting the page, I had a different photo in  mind to use, but this view right here is something we see regularly in this house. Leila still in PJs wearing a xmas Tutu and her 'dancing shoes'. Normally she's dancing around to Angelina Ballerina, however this morning it was all about the new talking Cat app on the tablet (It repeats everything you say and came pre loaded on the kids tablet).

There are still a couple of kits remaining in the store HERE Head on over and snap one up before they all disappear. I can't wait to see what else my imagination creates with this kit.

Documenting December

Here to share a few sneak peeks of my work in progress Album for December

Throughout this month I will be documenting most photo's taken, not just the christmas photos, as it is quite a busy month for us. I am using products and kits from two of my favourite Aussie online stores. The Documenting December kit from Polka Dot Creative and the December Main kit release from A Piece of Cake Designs, plus extra products from the Studio Calico Magical range.

I originally thought I could squeeze this into the back of my current Project Life album for this year, however after further thought of how I wanted to document the month, I have moved into an album of its own. I have decided to document most stories Project life style, with a mix of traditional layouts through out.

I have started the album off with a transparency and the Candy stripe vellum from Studio Calico.. with some gold glitter thickers..

Underneath is a 12x12 KI Memories calendar, over the top of the Gold start kraft paper from the PDC kit

Ive used my favourite number stamps from Typo to mark the days, and added minimal embellishments in an aim to keep this album as flat as possible. Im hoping to get more than 1 year into this album.

Im enjoying this project, and hope that I can keep up the creativity throughout this busy fun month.

Back soon with a share of the first few days of my album..

Also featuring a Charms Creations Super Star on a Becky Higgins plain divider to mark the week as I forgot to add it into the layout. I had that much to share this week that it didn't fit.

I managed to use a few flairs within this layout. 2 from the kit and 2 from the I {heart} Coffee  set

I Love how flairs add that little POP of extra excitement to a page.
They really finish the mini layouts off perfectly.
These kits from APOCD are really jam packed with lots of yumminess.
I never have to add anything extra to a layout as everything in the kit matches perfectly!
Although this stitched luggage tag was sitting on my work space as I was creating this layout.
It works so well with the rest of the layout.
The APOCD flairs are fantastic to use within Project Life. They sit nice and flat on the page.
And Raquel uses the cutest designs!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you have enjoyed looking though my week 32 of Project Life and seeing how I use flairs within my album.
