Fine & Dandy | Scrap the Girls

Hello Hello! September already = its time for a new challenge with Scrap The Girls. This month is a cool sketch that challenged me to get a little messy! I've used the STUNNING new collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio - Bohemian Dream, which is not in store as yet, but a sneaky little birdie dropped me off a package while they were visiting for Paperific and I couldn't wait to dig in to it all!

LOVE LOVE LOVE the colours within this collection, and all the pretty designs! The perfect collection for scrapping photos of Leila.

Heres a look at the sketch designed by DT member Sue

I got a little messy on the background with some coloured paint and scrunched paper towel, plus an extra added sprinkling of colour with some Kaiser Mists. I even drew some mini hearts with a black pen

Heres some close ups of all the sweet details

Thanks so much for stopping by. Ive left this super short today, but I aim to pop back in and leave links to all the items once the collection goes live in the Cocoa Vanilla Studio store.

Until then, apologies for all the creative spam ;)

Happy Scrapping

You Make My Heart Sing | Scrap The Girls

Hello Hello! Yesterday, if you're a follower of Scrap The Girls challenge blog, you would have seen the new challenge announced? This month is a fun sketch that I had some fun creating with, along with the Wild at Heart collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio and some of the new Creative Cuts from D-lish Scraps.

Here's a look at the sketch, including the flipped around version that I based my layout on..

I originally had started placing things down in the original form of the sketch, then things took a turn and ended up like this..

I kept the main floral cluster partly embellishment free as there was just so much going on in the one spot, and I really like how its all layered together 😃 I backed pieces of the flowers cuts with scraps of pattern papers from the collection, and also used some larger scraps to build up the layers behind the photos.

My printer has been printing photo's in some pretty odd colours lately, but until we can afford to replace it, I'm running with its craziness lol

Here's a look at the dimension created with the floral cluster by using foam tape, lots of foam tape lol

I've used a sticker and chipboard piece to create the title, again going for something that didn't stand out too much or compete with the large cluster

I tucked in a couple of glitter dots for some added sparkle

and lastly created a little cluster with some die cute pieces in the ephemera pack.

That's all from me today! Be sure to stop by the Scrap the Girls blog to see all the other DT member creations!

Until next time, Happy Scrapping

Hello Adorable | Scrap the Girls

Hey Everyone! Can you believe that it's FEBRUARY?
Today is the day Scrap The Girls releases a new challenge, this month is a sketch.. Oh and good news.. I'm staying on the team YAY!

Lets get to the fun stuff.. Here's a look at the sketch for the month, one that involves use of multiple photos, or something in place of them. What ever inspires you!

I've used the Cute Girl collection from Crate Paper for this layout, plus a few extras from past Hip Kits. Love the brightness of the background paper and the embellishments that compliment it all.

I'm not sure if you can still see the sketch behind this, but the main elements are there. The striped background, tags and circular elements in the top right, title lower left, journalling bottom right, a Cat element, plus 4 photos.

Here's some close ups..

Love creating mixed titles with various complimenting products. Big and bold!

Thats all from me today. Be sure to check out the Scrap the Girls blog to see all the other DT member creations.
Until next time, Happy Scrapping!

Hello You Sweet Thing | Scrap The Girls

What the heck Everyone! Its November!!
New month = New challenge at Scrap the Girls, with this month being a sketch. You can see the sketch a little further down, however I'm too excited to share what I created with it!

I am LOVING this new collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio - Make a Wish. The colours are so bright and beautiful! Perfect for scrapping Leila photos..

Here's the sketch we have for you all this month

I can't help myself! I had to rotate.. Using a sketch as its presented is very rare for me, but its also a fun challenge to see where it takes me. I can't wait to see what you all create with it!

I ended up adding extra embellishments to create a diagonal element to the layout, something I find myself doing quite often. I'm loving all the different types of embellishments within the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Collections lately too, so much variety!

It's been a while since I created multiple layers behind a photo, so this was quite fun, and came together quite fast.

I've been switching up the way I add little details to layouts. Whether it be the way I adhere embellishments to the page with tiny staples, the distressing of paper edges, or adding slight dimension to die cuts with foam tape.

And lastly a few sentences to tell the story of the moment. The photo was taken towards the middle of the Kinder term, when Leila was having a rough time saying goodbye at drop off time. We got through it all with a little help from her friend George, and maybe a few extra cuddles from her Kindy teacher..

Thats all from me today.
I hope you get the chance to join in on this fun challenge over at Scrap The Girls. Please share your creations with us! We love to see what you all make.

Until next time, Happy Scrapping!

Birthday Girl | Scrap The Girls

Hello!! Welcome back to my blog. It's been a couple of weeks between posts, so I'm back with something new!

Today is the start of a new month, which means its time for a new challenge with Scrap the Girls. This month is a sketch, and I can't wait to see how everyone else interprets it.

I've used the new Love Always collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio for this layout. The soft pastel tones are just beautiful, and suited the photo quite well.

Here's a look at the sketch

As per most sketches, I couldn't help it. I had to rotate it and I came up with this..

The photo I've documented is from Leila's first Birthday, almost 5 years ago. Can't believe how fast the time is flying. That little cutie starts school next year!

To create the splattered effect I've used a cut file design from The Cut Shoppe with die cuts from the Ephemera pack in the Cocoa Vanilla collection

Love the floral designs within each of the Cocoa Vanilla collections, these however take the cake! LOVE!!

I've stitched through the alpha stickers to ensure they stay put, but also for a little added texture and detail on the page

and lastly the final splattered cluster..

Really really happy with this layout, its so soft and pretty and a perfect way to document this precious moment.

That's all for today. Be sure to check out the Scrap the Girls blog to see what the other team members have made. And don't forget to share your creations with us!

Until tomorrow, Happy Scrapping

Love You | Scrap The Girls

Hi Everyone! It's the start of ANOTHER month.. Seriously.. Life is just cruising by

Today marks the start of a new challenge on the Scrap the Girls blog
We have a sketch this month that was fun to interpret

As per usual, I've flipped around and added an extra strip to the bottom edge

I chose to document a photo of Leila and her ride on Bee going on a walk. This child has so much imagination lately, that theres endless stories to be told.

I've used one of my favourite collections from Cocoa Vanilla Studio - Hello Lovely, and some chipboard 'String' frames by Dusty Attic from D-lish Scraps

I altered the frames with some white acrylic paint and a slight touch of sliver glitter sparkles

Layered up my favourite papers from the collection that co-ordinated well with the colours of Leila's Fairy Dress. I left the veneer 'Love You' pieces raw as I couldn't decide on a colour to suit the page.

And lastly the top cluster, made up of stickers and veneer from the Hello Lovely collection, along with part of a string frame and a scattering of enamel shapes and Color Shine.

Thanks so much for stopping by for a closer look.
Be sure to check out the Scrap The Girls blog for more inspiration from the Team.

Until tomorrow, Happy Scrapping

Hello Darling | Scrappy Canary

Hello Everyone,
Theres a new sketch up on the Scrappy Canary blog, so today I thought I would share my layout
What an awesome sketch to interpret in any way you see fit!

I had the honour of watching Manda create the layout she shared HERE while we were at Scrap Camp recently. I loved it, wanted to scrap lift it completely, but thought I should probably design something a little different.

Heres a reminder of the sketch

What an awesome sketch to interpret in any way you see fit!

This is what I came up with

I loved the idea of a pieced grid of papers for the base.
But rather than using the squares in the sketch, I changed them up for rectangles.
I even turned the centre square into a rectangle by joining the photo and title card together

After working out the best placement of colours and patterns I sewed all the pieces down using mums trusty sewing machine.

Ive then added minimal embellishing with stickers from the Dear Lizzy Serendipity collection and last months embellishment kit.

I had to dip into my stash for this layout while waiting on the newest Canary kits to arrive.
However...
If you haven't already noticed, Manda has started to stock new collections in the store. YAHOO
This means If you run out of Scrappy Canary kits to use theres plenty of other options to play with if you can't wait for the next :) Don't forget to use the code MICHELLE10 to get 10% off any purchases

Thanks for stopping by, make sure you share your layouts with us this month over on the Canary blog
Happy Scrapping

Peeping Tom

Hello Fellow crafters
Dropping in today to share a 'just because' layout I made recently.

I was stuck for ideas on where I wanted to start, so I went back through some older layouts for inspiration. I ended up scrap lifting a layout that I am still yet to share here! It was based on a sketch challenge for Scrappy Canary, prior to me joining the team.

This is the original sketch
I rotated it to the left and made this page back in September last year

To make my current page, Ive turned the inspiration layout upside down, then moved the placement of the photo and title to give it a different look.
Ive layered up papers and embellishments from the latest kit from A Piece of Cake Designs (now sold out) Paper within the kit is from recent Amy Tangerine, Dear Lizzy and Websters Pages collections.

A close up of the mixed alpha title. Loving mixing up the fonts and colours lately

Pieces from the Dear Lizzy ephemera pack in the kit make the perfect clusters

Well there you have it.
1 sketch from many months ago and 2 very similar but different layouts :)

Thanks for stopping by
Happy Crafting
