Cupcakes are fun!

Hello crafty readers!!
Today Im sharing a few layouts Ive created using the May Cupcake Kit from A Piece of Cake Designs

First up is another scrap lifted layout - this time I was inspired by a layout created by Gina HERE
PLAY DATE
I loved the gesso, ink and mist splatters that Gina had produced within her layout so I knew I had to scrap lift her page. It was so much fun!! Can you tell?

Up next
ARTIST IN THE MAKING
This layout is all about the layers
Layers of white cardstock and pattern papers as a base for the page
Layers of gesso rubbed with yellow gelato and splattered with distress ink
Layers of vellum, doilies and pattern papers as a photo mat
Embellished with sequins, stickers and alphas from the kit
PERFECTION

And last but never least
BOOK WORM
To make the background.. I splattered the distress ink over a section of my craft mat, then sprayed it with water. This made the ink bead up and instead of stay in 1 puddle. I laid the cardstock over the beading then held it upright to let the ink and water run down the page. While it was drying (because I was impatient) I drew over the inked areas with a yellow gelato and wiped some gesso into random spots. Then I let it dry, for almost a week while we were busy enjoying life.

Once I found my mojo and some spare time, I came back to layer up papers, washi and a doily, while still trying to work out what photo to use. Yes I do create my base pages prior to having photos ready lol

To finish the page off I scattered a few sequins from the kit, added a title with some Heidi Swapp alphas and my handwriting, stamped the date (more than once) and called it done.

I love how these have all turned out.
More layout shares to come over the next few days!

Let me take a Selfie

Hello crafty friends, another scrap lift to share today.
This one was lifted straight from a layout Raquel made with the Camelot kit from Studio Calico
I loved it that much I needed to lift pretty much all of the layout :)
You can see her layout HERE
And this is mine

More layouts coming up in the next couple of days..

Crafty Day with Carol = Productive day of creating

Hello crafty friends!!

A few weeks ago I was able to spend a few hours with a very dear friend of mine.
A relatively new friend who I connected with over a love for Project Life early last year.
I could go on all day about how thankful I am to have had this lady walk into my life, but you are here to see scrappy pages..

On this day I was very productive!! 4 layouts in total in only a few short hours.. 3 traditional and 1 PL

Today I thought I would share 2 of the 3 traditional layouts that I created as I've already shared the other HERE

First up is
MUSICIAN IN THE MAKING

This layout was made with the Music mini kit from Studio Calico (part of their mid month sneaks night)
Ive added some gold hearts vellum, a wanderlust stitched frame and pattern paper
and some Amy Tangerine alpha thickers.

The other layout I'm sharing today is
YOU AND YOUR PA
Made with the Studio Calico Wanderlust 6x6 paper pad, stitched frame, a vellum card cut down and slipped under the bottom layers (you can't see it very well in this photo) Ive also added in a Teresa Collins butterfly and alpha stickers. I spread some whipped spackle onto some kraft cardstock before adhering all layers to the page with my Tiny attacher and stamping with an Amy Tangerine roller stamp

Thanks for stopping by, more layouts to share in the coming days..

A Little bit of HEIDI love..

Hello fellow crafters!
Just a quick share today of 2 layouts I made last month with my new favourite Heidi Products

First up is
DREAM A LITTLE DREAM
Inspired by a instagram pic that Heidi shared with some brush script on pattern paper, I decided I wanted to try it out myself. Using 2 different color shine colours I wrote the quote line after line until the entire page was full. Then went over in the darker pink colour in 1 section to highlight it as a title.
Once it was dry I sewed a piece of 12x12 vellum over the top to soften the colours a little more, then went to town with a few banner delights and the same color shine colours. Finished off with a photo mat made of different pattern papers from the Dreamy 6x6 pad, my favourite Studio Calico doily and a few ephemera bits from the dreamy ephemera pack

Next up is
FUNNY FACES
I made this layout for a sketch duet challenge that went up in the Scrappy Canary VIP lounge back in June, when it was still named Polly! Scrap kits
Ive used a memory file as a background page rather than a 12x12 piece of cardstock. Just for something a little different. Apart from 1 pattern paper from Studio Calico, the remainder of the strips came from the Dreamy 6x6 paper pad. Ive sewed and stapled these all in place rather than gluing them down, just because I could lol Layout was finished off with a few lengths of twine wrapped around the entire memory file, and a few ephemera bits from the Dreamy ephemera pack..

Thanks for stopping by, more to share again in the next few days.

Blog hop with a twist

Super honoured to have been asked by Raquel to join in this blog hop with a difference.

Not only is this awesome lady my BESTEST and oldest friend (we have known each other since we started school 25years ago!!!) but she is my main source of scrapping inspiration!
Raquel was the one who got me started with Scrapbooking, and has encouraged me every step of the way. I am in awe of the creativity that flows out of her, and I'm so very proud of all her achievements in the last 12 months.

Be sure to check out her post where you can learn more about her HERE

Getting to know me:

1: What am I working on right now?
Ive always got a few works in progress spread around my craft room..
- Our 2014 Project Life album
Im trying out the colour blocking approach for a couple of weeks, using my new favourite kit KIWI

Ive also got a guest post coming up over at the Scrappy Canary using their June pocket pages kit

- My Heidi Swapp memory planner

Im using this to document more stories just about me, rather than the whole family. Its such a fun way to play around with different products in both pocket and traditional style scrapping :)

- and a few random 12x12 layouts for current Design & Creative team work plus a few that need to be completed..

2: How long does it take to complete a project?
It really depends on the task at hand and the depth of layers and products being used. If I'm doing something mixed media style, it can take a couple of hours if I'm stop starting between layers of gesso, paints, mists etc. Some days If I have a particular layout in mind I can put it together in less than an hour. I have been known to get up to 5 layouts done in a short period of time when 'on a roll' scrapping with friends. Project Life layouts take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour to complete, depending on which style I choose to document. Whether it be purely cards and photos or overloaded with stickers and embellishments :)

3: What are my favourite things to create with at the moment?
My go to products lately have been
Vellum LOVE LOVE LOVE vellum, it softens colours of papers and gives an added texture to pages
White doilies from Studio Calico
White cardstock - a good base to start with makes colours of papers and photos POP
Machine stitching seems to have been an added extra on most of my layouts lately
and anything within my D-Lish stash - small embellishments to finish off a layout

4: How does my creative process work?
Well creative urges usually strike right when I'm getting settled in bed, I think of an idea or see a cool layout online and know that I need to get up and get something started before I forget all about it. From there I either keep going until its finished and get to bed super late, or I make more notes and get all the products out ready to complete when get back into the room next.

5: How do I become inspired, and stay inspired
I find so much inspiration online, within galleries and groups. Plus the more I create the more I stay inspired

6: What is my signature style?
I think I have a pretty eclectic style, willing to try anything once to see if its something I want to continue on with. Recently Ive delved into the mixed media side of scrapbooking and playing around with my new Silhouette Cameo.

So there you have it, now you know more about my creative side, its time to continue hopping!
When Raquel first asked me to participate in this blog hop, I thought yep awesome! Super easy, I follow so many awesome scrappy friends that I shouldn't have a problem finding 3 crafty people to help keep the fun rolling…. well was I wrong on that point lol 1 after 1 all my scrappy favourites have been snapped up amongst the fun by other creative minds, so my list is a little different.. I have 1 lovely lady who will be continuing on with this hop next week, the remainder of links to a few of my favourite scrappers, both Project Lifers and traditionalists.

Let me introduce to you

Aimee Dow
This lady is unbelievably talented! A graphic designer, fellow victorian, avid Project lifer and awesome traditional scrapper! Every layout created just blows me away! Home is wherever I'm with you

SUPER LATE post for tonight, but theres a NEW Mood Board up at Life Paper Scrapbook
The layouts created by the Design Team this month are AMAZING!!

Here is what we were given to inspire us
I took inspiration from the different coloured pink eggs, the Home mat, the wooden door and the hints of mint, orange and aqua/teal

And this is what I came up with, using one of my favourite 'HOME' quotes
The hearts arty background was created with layers of gesso, whipped spackle and watercolours.
It didnt turn out exactly how I thought I wanted it to, however Im still really happy with it.

Absolutely love this quote, I thought it was perfect for the photo Ive chosen of Leila and I on the couch
with our dog Bella in the background. Lazy days at home on the couch is totally us!

I wanted to add a little extra excitement to the page, without over doing it, so Ive layered up some glittery POW paper, Cosmo Cricket tissue paper, my favourite washi tape and some super cool webbing fabric.

Thanks for stopping by.
Head over to the LPS blog to see what the rest of the team have created, you won't be sorry :)

Just Be

Hello again!!
So many posts within so many days!!

This is the one and only layout I have made so far with the May main kit from

Im embracing the warped look due to the amount of product Ive used on the white cardstock!!
I used a Kaiser Craft mask and some whipped spackle layered on some vellum and pattern paper from the kit. Because of the detail of the mask I didnt want to add too much more to the page, so Ive made a simple photo mat with a simple alpha title and minimal embellishments. Finished off with lots of machine stitching to keep the layers together and I was done :)

Coming up tomorrow… another scraplifted page..
So much inspiration out there and ideas that I never thought to try.

Scrappin' is A Piece of Cake

Hello fellow scrappers..

Today I am here to share a few layouts Ive made (back in may) with the April Main and Cupcake kits from A Piece of Cake Designs
Grab a cuppa and have a read

Up first are 2 layouts of my nephews made using the Main kit

YOU ARE SIX
I really liked the colours of this paper, but wanted the photo to stand out more than it did, so I went to town with some gesso and navy colour shine. Ive layered up the chevron bag, a piece of stars vellum and some pattern papers under my photo. Embellishments and alpha tiles are all from the Main kit.
A few ink splatters and some banners made from the paper title strips and its complete..

The second page made with the main kit is
CUTE PUPPY
Super simple 8.5x11 page made using strips of vellum and pattern paper as the base. Kraft and pattern papers as the photo mat, and a whole lot of MOTEX and alpha fun for the title!
Embellished with sequins and sticky buttons from the kit.

Next up..  2 layouts made with the Cupcake kit

I was Inspired by THIS  layout made by Lisa Pate - APOCD design team member
So I thought, why not try scrap lifting
YOU ARE ONE
For this layout I thought I would try my hand at some brush script. This cupcake kit came with some black gauche and a Sumi brush, so it was the perfect time to try out this popular technique.
Its not a perfect example of how brush script should look, but I tried it, I liked it, and its done!
I've used an APOCD exclusive mask and some whipped spackle for the background, and sprayed with some citrus and teal colour shine (that you can hardly see lol) Different sized pieces of the 6x6 papers have been distressed and layered up, with a glitter frame and pretty doily. Then minimal embellishing from pieces in the kit

Last but not least for this post
TOTALLY BRILLIANT
excuse the spelling mistake
Another 8.5x11 page. I like to mix up the sizes of pages to keep it interesting within our albums
The background was made with some white cardstock and purple vellum (not part of the kit), and a few rough brush strokes of black gauche. Like the previous layout, Ive distressed and layered up different sized pieces of the pattern papers within the kit as a photo mat, then finished off the page with stickers from the Heidi Swapp pack within the kit

Thats all for today, thanks for hanging in there
I will be back to share more tomorrow :)

Project Life Week 20 for D-Lish Scraps

Hello Crafty followers!!
Today is just a super quick post to share another layout for this months

I challenged myself to document our Week 20 of Project Life in a traditional scrapbooking style..

I started with a blank page, and some of the silver wire which I bent into a very wonky 'week 20'
Added in some Project Life cards, some white cardstock and an itty bitty bag. Then a good handful of D-Lish embellishments from the SHOP plus the random photos we took that week and I called it done.
I think I did ok??

Would love to see how you document your week without using pocket pages.
Please link up your posts in the comments below :)
AND don't forget to add your entries in to the D-Lish Scraps Link up over on the blog!!
You gotta be in it to win it!

Smile with Life Paper Scrapbook

Super excited to have been welcomed back to the Life Paper Scrapbook team for the next few months.
Today Im sharing my take on the newest sketch challenge

And this is what I came up with...
As soon as I saw the sketch I instantly thought I had to make a 'patchwork' layout. The squares became different sized rectangular shaped pieces of the Heidi Swapp Favorite Things collection. I arranged these on a white piece of cardstock then sewed down like a quilt. I attached the patchwork piece to some kraft paper that I had experimented with earlier in the day using gesso, a Kaiser Craft mask and a pink gelato. So much fun!!

A close up of the machine stitching, along with a random thread I didnt realise was there until I was editing photos. Whoops!

Ive layered up stars and hearts designed by Heidi Swapp to finish off the page

Head on over to the LPS blog and check out the other creations made by other members of the Design Team. Be sure to join in the fun and load up any layout you make that are inspired by the sketch.

Happy Scrapping xx
