Giving new things a whirl

Hello fellow Crafters!!

Im sharing another layout thats recently been published. This was made using the Scrappy Canary April Mayfair Scrapbook kit, and features in Vol 18, Issue 5 of Scrapbooking Memories Magazine

I've been wanting to try out the technique of using the negative of an alpha set, and thought what a better set than this one with its multi coloured letters!! This was so much fun to make, and turned out awesome!

Ive used multiple photos of Leila's first day at Kinder this year. Backed them all with papers from the kit and flagged each of them with vellum for notes. Each of them is popped up with some foam tape above, yet again, a signature doily ;)

A quick journal note about the day, on the tag provided in the kit, embellished with a star clip and puffy stickers from Studio Calico

I wrote my journalling straight onto the page, something that I've not been adding to layouts recently.

Lastly a close up of the negative alpha background, and a card from the cut apart sheet. I've added a strip from the Espresso sheet to use as my title

Thats all from me today

Be Happy

Hello fellow crafters
Im back to share another layout I made with the January 2015 kit from A Piece of Cake Designs.
I couldn't share this after I made it, as it was picked up for publication by Scrapbooking Memories Magazine. You can see it in print within Vol 18, Issue 4

The papers and embellishments within this kit were so pretty.
Very me, and very suitable for layouts of Leila.

Featuring lots of Dear Lizzy prettiness, including a cut apart paper title :)

Ive managed to sneak a few pieces of my 'signature' doily into this layout.. They seem to be appearing on everything Ive made lately! They're so pretty and delicate

As mentioned above, Ive used the Dear Lizzy cut apart paper to layer up and use as a title for the page. I like this for a change, rather than using alpha stickers

My usual multi layer layout is complete with the addition of my favourite vellum, and some tiny staples to keep it all together :) Who needs adhesive when you have a Tiny attacher

Thats all for today

Oh how fun.. for Scrappy Canary

Hey Everyone!

Michelle back with a new layout for Scrappy Canary using a mix of both current kits.

This page has been added to my favourites list.
It was so much fun to create, and came together quite easy

I knew I wanted to work with some form of grid style for these photos, so the 'Quest' paper was the first paper I went for. I chose 3 squares that suited the theme of the photos, then layered them up with other co-ordinating coloured squares from the same paper. I felt that the page was showing too much white, so I've added in the strip of 'Keen' striped paper, then some torn strips of washi tape and some pink scrap paper.

These two are hilarious!! They have so much fun together, and really make us laugh

How can I say no to a doily! And how adorable is that photo!

Another fun photo! So glad I have these moments captured!

Ive added in a tag from the ephemera pack, so that it wasn't all straight lines around the page

and lastly, I've repeated the washi and paper strip to the right had side and added in some repetitive stamping (easiest way to clean off a roller stamp lol), puffy stickers and an enamel dot

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you're having an enjoyable week

3 MONTHS

Hello everyone
I have another published layout to re-share
You can see it published in Scrapbooking Memories Magazine Vol 18, Issue 1

This was made last year (2014) as part of a challenge on the Studio Calico Member boards. We were to scrap lift the person who commented above us. It was so much fun!

This is what I came up with after having a play with last years birthday present, my Silhouette Cameo.. something I really need to get back out and play with more!

You can see where I took my inspiration from HERE on my Studio Calico member post :)

Thanks for stopping by, more to share very soon

Twinkle Toes.. for Scrappy Canary

Hey Scrappy Peeps!! Im sharing a new layout for Scrappy Canary today.
Today Im sharing a new layout using the main Scrapbook kit Venice Beach and a very random mix of embellishments!

You can see the super cute Zebra has made its way onto this page, purely for its cuteness! It has nothing to do with the photo of Leila dancing, as she does best. My Nan gave her the name Twinkle Toes as she is always 'twinkling' and never really standing still

I've used a mixture of rub ons all over the page, the main cluster of flowers and leaves have been rubbed onto white cardstock before being fussy cut and popped up with some foam tape

Quick tip for any of the acetate pieces.. they have a film coating on one side that needs to be peeled off, ensure you peel it off for a crystal clear look.

A few different layers of cut and ripped pattern papers sit under the photo, kept together with the gold heart paper clip and another acetate piece

Lastly a close up of the torn strips of the gold spot washi tape by Dear Lizzy and the Amy Tangerine pattern paper that has been tucked under the striped paper (top and bottom)

I hope this has inspired you in some way to use up random things that don't necessarily have anything to do with the story you are telling :)

Thanks for stopping by today
I hope to have more to share soon mixing up both kits

Brilliant & Glamorous

Hello!!
A super late night share for me tonight.
Im re-sharing a layout I made earlier in the year that was published in Scrapbooking Memories Magazine!! This is the second layout Ive had published by SBM, you can find it in Issue: Vol 8 No 2

Anyways.... The Bella Rouge collection by Pink Paislee is so sweet. Pretty pinks, soft greys with a touch of black and yellow. Hints of silver spread throughout the Ephemera pack were calling my name!

I could have continued adding more and more little sentiments from the ephemera pack. All of which worked perfectly with my chosen photo. But I didnt want to overdo it too much.

I layered up complimenting papers from the 6x6 paper pad, with a good ol trusty doily from Studio Calico's "studio selections" . I've just recently placed an order for a few more packs, they seem to compliment most paper collections that I've been using lately, and finish off pages just nicely.

A sparkly butterfly bow adds the perfect touch of sparkle to my page, just like Leila adds a touch of sparkle to every day :)

Thats all for tonight. Be sure to pop back soon for another layout share, another using this months Scrappy Canary kit

Sunday Love.. for Scrappy Canary

Hello There!
Two posts in one day!
This one I'm sharing for Scrappy Canary
Its quick, bright and so fun!

Ive used a good handful of ephemera pieces from the die cut pack in the Venice Beach kit, along with strips of pattern papers, some enamel dots and splatters of bright pink using a distress ink dauber
The fruit themed paper and die cuts worked perfectly for this photo of Leila showing off her new watermelon dress before we headed off the other day. She's such a poser some days!

I made clusters of ink splatters around the page before adhering everything down. I stamped some fun  phrases with the Amy Tangerine roller stamp that was released with this collection

I've also splattered over the word Sunday on the Dear Lizzy paper, as the photo was taken on a Sunday

I wasn't sure how I could use these fruit pieces when I first saw them, but layering them in a cluster with some extra shapes and an enamel dot looks good

Along the bottom I've added some torn washi strips and another strip of pattern paper

Thats all from me today, be sure to check back in again soon for another scrappy share

Summer Flip Flops.. with D-lish Scraps

Hi Everyone
Back today with my last share for D-lish Scraps this month.

Super excited about this one as I've managed to combine 3 of the 4 October challenges within the Scrap Suite into 1 layout! If I had found some shaving cream in the cupboard I would have attempted all 4!

The 3 challenges Ive used are these..
The colours in Mandy's challenge are so bright and summery, they were calling for a 'summer' themed photo to scrap.
The whitespace challenge by Krisy was right up my alley, as most of the time this is how I scrap.

And Sue's sketch challenge.. who doesn't love a sketch challenge?

This is what Ive come up with..
All three challenges worked so well combined! Love the way its turned out.

I went straight to my bag stash to find the right patterns and colours that worked best together, all 3 bags chosen and torn up for layers are the 5x7 size. I also snuck in one of my favourite doilies under the photo. Ive used some resin and paper flowers (pastel petal & forget me not), a flair button and a  journal it tab from a monochrome pack for this cluster

to the right of the photo I've used a felt polka dot bowgreen speech bubble journal it and 2 more paper flowers, another resin flower and some enamel shapes to the right of the title.

at the top of the page I've added a resin bowresin flowerpastel petal and some enamel shapes, these are in place of the banner and title on the sketch.

lastly you can see I've tucked in a green journal it card to the top of the bag and held it in place with an arrow paper clip

Leila Style.. with D-lish Scraps

Hi Everyone,
Im back today with a second layout for D-lish Scraps
this one featuring Leila and her mad watering skills!

I didn't think this background was going to turn out, I kept adding more and more and thought it was headed for the scrap pile, but I persevered until I was happy and came up with this. And, although the photo is quite dark,  I think it turned out ok.

The photo Im documenting is of Leila watering the garden for her Pa, on a stool. a Lazy, yet smart way to water lol She loves to help, especially when it involves water, and being outside!

To make the background, I've used 2 different Scrap FX stencils, some distress ink and white gesso to tone it down slightly. I also added in some mint Jillibean soup paint.

Once dry, I got to work with the sequin strand across the page.. disaster! Multiple staples and tonnes of glue and it was finally stuck down.. in a different position to how I originally planned

On either side under the photo you can see Ive layered up some circle Journal its from Past kits, a new printed doily tag, and some mini coloured doilies. I've also added in some pretty Pastel Petal flowers in a bunch to the left,

polka dot bowflair button and some resin flowers to the right make up the cluster on the right

Thanks for stopping by today,
back tomorrow with my last share for this month

Change Room Selfie.. with D-lish Scraps

Hi Everyone!
Today I'm sharing my first layout of the month for D-lish Scraps

Im starting off with an Inspiration Board layout, its a routine I just can't break out of!

A reminder of the board shared yesterday
Seriously Awesome! I was so ready for a black and white challenge

Here's what I came up with..

Absolutely LOVE everything about this page! The fun photos, the colour scheme, and the simple scattering of embellishments, and that it hardly took any time at all to complete.

The black and white stripes on the left of the page was made from a 5x7 paper bag that I opened up, on the sides only, and laid out flat.  Then, I've layered some white punchinella with some black cardstock to use for the long rectangular strip on the sketch. I've used the same black cardstock to mat the photos to as well.

Embellishments Ive used in this cluster are: Freckled Fawn arrow clipResin Bird, white pastel petal flowerFlair buttonWashi tapeenamel shapes & dotscoloured Mini doilywordfetti strip and white Sequins. The 'Captured' arrow is from a pattern paper in my scraps box

Another flairpastel petal flower, some more of that fun washi, a sequin bow and some enamel dots make up this cluster.

Ive also added a white doily from my stash, sprinkled some Black color shine and finished off with some stamping in random places
