HEY Cool Kid | Cocoa Vanilla Studio

Hello Hello, I'm back today with a new layout to share for Cocoa Vanilla Studio using the SUPER cool Boys Rule collection. For the last few days part of the team have been sharing layouts featuring geometric shapes, and boy have they been awesome to see!

I had no idea where to begin with this layout as theres so many geometric shapes to choose from, most of which I've used in some form within the last few layouts I've created. I turned to google images for some inspiration and came upon an art sketch that involved large triangles and arrows in a central design.

I started by cutting 2 large triangle shapes from the green pattern of STRAIGHT & NARROW paper, 2 smaller triangle shapes from the shite with black cross STAR FALL paper and then 2 arrows from the blue pattern ENTITLED paper. Really loving the B sides of this paper collection as they're all quite vibrant and perfect for mixing together. I've sewed through all shapes then roughed up the edges for a little texture and dimension.

I framed both the crazy face photos taken back in April using Snapchat, we LOVE a funny selfie! The wood look frame can be found in the EPHEMERA pack and the blue and white diagonal stripe frame is in the chipboard pack. I've added a clear sticker to the bottom corner of the blue frame along with the LOL accessory sticker, a crown from the chipboard pack to the top of the funny long face photo and the wild child sticker from the accessory sticker sheet.

I've created a mixed product title again, LOVE the look of them plus it stretches the word stickers and ephemera further by mixing things up instead of using it all at once on one page. Starting with the black HEY bubble which I cut up to remove the extra text that didn't work with the title. Next I added foam to the back of the COOL KID words from the EPHEMERA pack, fussy cut the YOU ARE from the ENTITLED paper and raised it up with more foam tape. I used the AWESOME from the Ephemera pack (also raised with foam tape) and then added the TOTALLY from the CLEAR STICKERS sheet to finish it off.

Lastly a sprinkling of embellishments and black ink splatters around the layout, but not too many to over do it as the background it already quite busy. I've repeated the same if not similar items within a visual triangle to pull it all together. Items used are CHIPBOARD stars, CLEAR stickers and enamel shapes from previous collections.

Well thats all from me today, I hope you've enjoyed taking a closer look at my creation.
Until next time, Happy Scrapping

Reading SuperSTAR | Cocoa Vanilla Studio

Hello Everyone! I'm back here today with a new layout share for Cocoa Vanilla Studio inspired by our recent stars and stripes theme. I've used an older collection 'You Rock' thats full of stars a few stripes and loads of other complimenting patterns. The layout documents Leila's love of reading, she especially loves all things Dr. Suess.

The process of creating this layout came together pretty quickly, once all those stars were cut out! I created a grid style layout using stars from the STARSHINE paper and some roughly cut squares from the b side of both RANDOM and STARSHINE papers. I sewed through all the rows of stars and around the outside of the squares of paper before adhering all the extra bits.

In the top right I've tucked in a sticker under the paper square, mounted the photo on a slight diagonal with foam tape then embellished the top corner using chipboard stars and another sticker from the Accessory sticker sheet.

I added a few wood veneer shapes over the top and at the ends of the stitched star rows creating some extra dimension to the layout

Over the bottom left sure of pattern paper Ive added the title using alpha stickers from older collections, more chipboard pieces, ephemera pieces and stickers from the accessory sheet. Lastly a few enamel shapes and a splattering of black ink around the page and this fun layout was complete. Super quick to create once all those stars were cut out!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Until next time, happy scrappingMichelle x

100% Awesome | Cocoa Vanilla Studio

Hello Scrappy friends! I'm back today with a new layout share for Cocoa Vanilla Studio featuring the cool Boys Rule collection. Still loving the challenge that this collection is giving me each time I dip in and get creative, but loving that theres still so much to use for scrapping photos of girls. It's awesome!

For this layout I've scrapped a photo of Leila from a few weeks back when we ventured out to SUPA TRAMP for the very first time. The photo quality isn't great, but still one that I wanted to document as Leila had so much fun running from one area to the next. She can't wait to get back there on the School holidays.

To start the layout I grabbed the 12x12 die cut and background specialty paper and went about creating something different to what the other DT members have created so far. I chopped the die cut piece in uneven halves, then fussy cut the stars from the backing piece and stapled them to the die cut piece. I then stuck them to the cardstock using some foam tape to lift them up and add dimension.

Next I grabbed the Miscellany pack that contains a few different polaroid style frames, and chose the one that has a mixed media look that blended with all the stars. I layered this over the fun photo of Leila, and added some white alphas form the Colour me Happy collection to create the start of my title.

This would have to be one of the very few times I've created the full title before embellishing the remainder of the layout. I dipped into the Ephemera pack for the word 'Awesome' and the blue star, then back into the Miscellany pack for the 100% piece that also had the word boy on it, but I chopped it off as it wasn't relevant to this creation. I also added some stickers from the Accessory sheet and a clear star from the new Clear stickers pack.

At the top of the photo I added a die cut arrow from the ephemera pack, the 'oh yeah' sticker from the accessory sheet and then some clear stickers to finish the cluster of embellishments off. Theres also the addition of the black star from the accessory sheet that I've used around the page to bring it all together in a visual triangle of sorts.

Over on the right side of the layout Ive added a couple of different stickers, some die cut pieces and a chipboard star to balance out the embellishments and colours around the layout. Loving that 'one cool kid' sticker.

Lastly a closer look at the slight dimension that foam tape has given to these stars. So awesome!

Well thats all from me today, I hope you've enjoyed seeing my way of using the super cool new die cut and backing sheet.

Until next time, Happy Scrapping!

You're the best | Cocoa Vanilla Studio

Hello Hello! I'm back today with a new layout for Cocoa Vanilla Studio using the super cool new Boys Rule collection. Absolutely loving the challenge this collection has given me in creating something that runs true to my style of scrapping. The colours are so fun, and the designs are perfect for boys. Just one slight problem, I don't have many boy photos to scrap. So for todays layout I've chosen a previously scrapped photo of Leila and her cousin from a couple years ago.

I absolutely love the colours within this collection. Blues and greens are by far my most favourite colours, you wouldn't think it though with all the girly florals I obsess over HAHA pinks and purples are still high up there though.

The patterns are all really fun, and I couldn't help but squeeze them all onto the same layout by ripping strips of each paper using a ruler to create rough edged squares and rectangles. After arranging them all in a grid design I adhered them to the cardstock and sewed through each individual piece with a straight stitch on my sewing machine. I added an extra zigzag stitch to the rectangle ones for a little added detail.

Next up I added a sweet photo of Leila and her cousin, backed with some plain vellum from my stash and raised up using a piece of foam sheet to give create dimension.

I added my title to the layout next using words from the chipboard pack, which are all conveniently cut out ready to use now YAY! I cut the A off the ARE word to create YOU*RE and used the star in place of an apostrophe. I also added a little die cut tag from the Miscellany set and some handwriting to create the wording before the title.

To balance out the black of the title I've added another larger chipboard piece to the top of the photo. I tucked in a sticker tab from the accessory sheet, added a smaller star from the chipboard pack and a die cut star from the main ephemera pack. I say main as yes there are 2 ephemera packs! So much to choose from.

Over on the right I've added a couple more die cut ephemera pieces, some stickers from both the clear sticker set and the accessory sticker set, and another chipboard piece. I didn't over do any of the clusters of embellishments on this layout, as I felt there was enough colour and embellishment with all the pattern papers in the background.

Then lastly a couple more stickers from the accessory sticker sheet and a chipboard star to tie it all together.

Well, thats all from me today. Thanks so much for stopping by!
Until next time, Happy Scrapping and be sure to share your creations with us on Facebook in the Cocoa Vanilla Studio group.

Good Vibes | Cocoa Vanilla Studio

Hello Hello! I'm back here today to share another creation for Cocoa Vanilla Studio. Another layout made at the recent Creative Escape retreat using a new and exclusive collection of goodies just for retreat attendees. Perfect for scrapping photos of the amazing view we had each day on our walk down to breakfast.

The venue itself was amazing, including this view on our way down to breakfast each morning. If you get the chance to join us next year, you definitely should!

The design of the layout came together pretty quickly, starting with a full sheet of the sweet spotty paper for the background, a few different pattern papers layered together to create the photo stack and a couple small clusters. To create the photo stack I cut a banner out of one pattern, tore the bottom of another, added the photo to a 3rd complimenting pattern and then layered them all together and raised them off the paper using foam for dimension.

I tucked a piece of a journal card into the top of the photo, and created a cluster top left using a fussy cut floral piece from a journal card, die cut heart from the ephemera pack, stickers from the sticker sheet, a couple of enamel dots from other Cocoa Vanilla Studio Collections.

I really could have stayed at this resort forever, that view never looked bad, and those stickers best represented how I felt the entire time I was there. Really really good company, food and excellent times!

The ephemera pack contained the perfect words to use as my title. Good Vibes - very very good vibes!

Lastly I created one last small cluster using a couple of stickers, more die cut ephemera an exclusive flair and some enamel dots and splattered the page with some gold ink.

Thats all from me today, I hope you've enjoyed seeing a little snippet of what we were spoilt with at retreat. Both the amazing view and exclusive products. Be sure to keep an eye out on the Cocoa Vanilla Studio page for information on when the next retreat may be.

Until next time, happy Scrapping!

Loving Life | Cocoa Vanilla Studio

Hello Scrappy friends! I'm back here today refreshed from time spent at Retreat and ready to share my newest layout featuring an older collection Hello Sunshine. The bright rainbow assortment of colours was the perfect way to kickstart my creative mission of scrapping till I fell asleep each day.

If you weren't already aware, this past weekend a wonderful bunch of 60+ women (plus one fella) were able to spend a relaxing few days in Coffs Harbour at the very first Cocoa Vanilla Studio Creative Escape Retreat. Words cannot express how amazing this weekend was, from the food to the laughter to the absolutely perfect beachside setting, everything was wonderful. I was super productive and able to create multiple things to share with you all here over the coming months, many inspired by creations you've already seen.

First up was the creation I'm sharing today which was inspired by a challenge set at Retreat to create a rainbow effect similar to those shared by Ulrike, HERE and HERE. I loved everything about the circular layout the Ulrike created from the minute I saw it, but was unsure how to recreate it without making it look identical. I ended up creating something quite similar - love a good scrap lift to kickstart the scrapping mojo!

I took inspiration from all the types of embellishments used and the shape they all formed and just went from there. I kicked myself multiple times throughout the process of this layout HAHA and had many witness's to just how long it took to fussy cut every single one of those flowers from the FULL BLOOM paper. It took me all night, and into the next morning to get that part done. Once the cutting was complete, I arranged the pieces in a rough circular shape and dove into the embellishments and cut apart paper to fill in the gaps

The first section I stuck down was the photo layered with the 'too cool' popsicle card from the SUMMER HITS Cut apart paper, a film strip and the 'You are my sunshine' piece from the ephemera pack plus part of a sticker from the accessory sheet to use as a date tab. I then worked around the page in an anti-clockwise direction gluing pieces here and there within a circular shape.

I layered labels and ephemera pieces, and raised some items up with foam tape for different heights of dimension.

I added puffy stickers, enamel shapes and even a few of the woodies in complimenting colours.

I worked around the circle using the rainbow effect. So much fun! and so easy to create with this collection.

I added in multiple word tags/sentiments that best reflected the photo and memory of the day it was taken. We had been out playing mini golf/putt putt for the first time as a family. It was so much fun and there were many hilarious moments watching Leila learn to play.

Lastly I've added splatters of coloured ink in rainbow colours to match the different sections. In the end, after all that fussy cutting that I swore I would never do again lol, I think the layout turned out pretty good. It's a little more square than circular, but I still love the rainbow effect it creates, and all the fun sweet floral designs around the page really make my day.

Well thats all for today, I hope this has inspired you to get out this older collection if its in your stash, or snap it up in store before it disappears. The rainbow assortment of designs in the collection are just singing for you to create something similar!

Until next time, Happy Scrapping!

You & Me | Cocoa Vanilla Studio

Hello Fellow scrappers! I'm back today with a new layout share for Cocoa Vanilla Studio featuring my favourite collection - Bohemian Dream. I can't help but get drawn back to this collection as its colours and patterns are seriously YUM! This layout was quite fun and quick to create, I had an idea in mind and just went with it.

Over the recent school holidays, Leila and I were able to sneak out to the Movies and for a coffee/hot chocolate date.  We weren't able to venture out much as I had to work so we made sure to make the most of this day. To record this Mummy & me date I took a photo while we were having coffee & hot chocolate then made sure to keep hold of the tickets from the movie.

To create the layout, I started with some strips of pattern paper from the 6x6 paper pad and layered them in a grid design with the photo and title cards. Super simple way to maximise the amount of patterns used without over doing it.

I popped the photo onto another pattern paper from the 6x6 pad, added a doily from my stash then raised it off the background paper using some foam tape. I tucked a sticker tab into the layers and created a cluster around the top right corner using Accessory stickers, die cut ephemera, chipboard and enamel shapes.

I added some accessory stickers and enamel shapes to the top right group of strips, plus a splattering of gold color shine

I added another accessory sticker to the strips bottom left, but no enamel shapes as silly me was in a rush and had forgot to HAHA

Lastly, I created a crazy title using multiple different alpha stickers from a couple of different collections and a chipboard & from the chipboard word set within the Bohemian Dream collection. I also added in some ephemera pieces, the ticket stubs, a chipboard heart and some enamel shapes.

Well thats all from me for today, thanks so much for stopping by.
